World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.

For example an item with the upgrade template that ends in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the item's current level. The cost increases as the item's level increases.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a stat boost or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot for them; the item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment as well as the back items that are not ascending. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could include a suffix or prefix that alters the name of the item to which it is applied (for instancethe "Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, which allows players to make stronger versions of the equipment using fewer upgrade items Crystals than is required to achieve the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defence attributes of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or buying them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.

The player can have the maximum of five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear, even when they're not sure how much it will be improved following an update.

The process of upgrading an item could be expensive and it is likely that the item will be obsolete or even break in the event that the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the chance of failure. Certain upgrades also provide a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs increase the effectiveness of all nodes in a radius around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways, and we suggest getting them to level 15 as soon as you can.

You'll often see in the final game that placing Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded up to level 15 and offer a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you will require them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that will boost the stats of a particular set of nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs boost all nodes connected to them, which is why it is best to place Glyphs in the most important locations on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. For example an Druid should try to position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes but you should also consider placing them near critical damage nodes as well.

Leveling

The upgrade system for items lets players increase the stats of certain items by placing upgraded components into them. This is commonly known as "upping". Every upgradeable item has an amount that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items are able to be leveled until they reach a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different amount of components to reach and the cost of upgrading increase as the item gets advanced in level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or bought from NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns several Technology Points. These points can be used for leveling up an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be eligible to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When an individual player upgrade an item upgrader kit the original item is replaced by an item that is new. The same armor will receive an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also come with a bonus of its own. This can be a downside in that the item could increase in price even if you don't need it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced with the same item, but it has a level 1 basis and completely different bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, but it's not something that should be repeated often, as it could waste many resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times which increases their value and giving players the ability to alter their gear. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or swims like a dolphin). It can be upgraded multiple times, each time raising the maximum roll by 10 points. This item is extremely important in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of a non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

The upgrader for items allows players to increase the level of their equipment (armor weapons, armor trinkets, and weapons) above ilvl385 by presenting the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense of the base set and weapon upgrades items increase their base damage as well as their strength and dexterity.

Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear which can have eight upgrades. Every when you upgrade an item level upgrade it is given a chance to fail--the failure rate increases the farther you exceed the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can result in the item reverting to its initial state, requiring the player to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.

If an item upgrader Mod does not upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it earned like chances to be crit damage to attack, additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time, or the speed of reloading). However, the player may continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to the highest. This means that should a weapon gain an increase in crit chance the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. Slots is a new attribute that has been added to the definitions of items. The value is recalculated each time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined by its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The upgrade cost for non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a typical equipment item might have 5 upgrades with a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade.

Premium items have different requirements for upgrading than standard gear--for instance, they might require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. Players will still have to bring every piece of gear they want to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade to equipment requires different amounts of the ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the expenses mentioned above.
