World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

Upgrades to equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a certain amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases as it is upgraded. This value is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly depending on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to make. This is because of how many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.

The level of an item is a commonly used measure of power, and is visible on all tooltips of items. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players are able to wear, since PvP is limited at lower levels. Players can view their average level of item on their character sheet.

The level of an item can help players compare the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's an indicator of the damage and quality. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when looking at the inventory of a vendor.

The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, as well as its ilvl. It can also be located by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are many theories about how the item level is determined. One theory is that the item level is a number that comes from a formula which calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in the sockets boost the value of the item. This could result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is typically very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

However, item upgrades this isn't the only factor which affects an item's ilvl, because the size of the area the item is dropped into can alter the value of its stats, for example by adding a level to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

Item stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game uses a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the best." The stat mods of a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by the player's level.

Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats of the item. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. An item that is white or grey for instance, can only be upgraded one time and items with rare tiers can be upgraded several times at higher costs.

Affixes are another way to change an item's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and they come in all sizes and shapes. Affixes can be used to give the item upgrader mod additional damage, add a special capability to the item (such as reviving dead or reducing the duration of cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting an exclusive name to the item.

Currently, all affixes can be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circling arrows. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold and other items which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which stats they want to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the level of the item upgrading, but every item is guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within that range, unless it's an item that is unique or an item that is a God roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another aspect that could be changed by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or choosing which stats to increase. However, as with the base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item level upgrade basis and the interface for comparing items will not show all the stats that could be that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the probability of obtaining items, the properties that are generated by loot, and the intensity of these properties. It doesn't, however directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is particularly beneficial in early game runs because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability that increases with each level and can be further increased through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons come with the default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to give +40 Luck, or to increase the luck of an item, up to 140.

Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any skill that deals damage by 5%. These items can be purchased in the shop or made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are expensive and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their items if it fails.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading the item, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on the extent to which the success rates can be improved and the chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%.

The success of an item can be affected by the luck of that item. Every item has an average success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

The item upgrade overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This could block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
