WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item upgrader kit by 3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as important for the latter due to the need to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of weapon or armor. The item upgrades used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current Item Level Upgrade (Tupalo.Com) level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item upgrader kit has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon as well as the chance to obtain the latest recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require several methods that are both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. After an upgrade has been completed to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is true even if those items come from another set of equipment.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut also, but is only available once certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be spent on equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the more complex one can require as much as 20 crests depending on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by engaging in outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult, but the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to get their gear up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests with care, since they have only one purpose. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
